Musicians worth my time...

Almost all music is good music. That said there are some artists that really get under my skin. Bob Dylan, Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, Johnny Cash, Bill Withers, Gordon Lightfoot, Leo Kottke, Michael Monroe , Michael Gulezian, Dion, Jack Johnson, Styx, Three Dog Night, John Denver, E.L.O., Harry Chapin, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, U2, Chet Atkins and Les Paul, Satchmo, Queen, The Beatles, Jethro Tull, Hank Williams Sr., Led Zeppelin, They Might Be Giants, Arlo Guthrie, Brother Iz, The Pogues, Alice Cooper, Creedence Clearwater Rivival, Crosby Stills Nash (with or without Young), David Bowie, Rod Stewart, Don Mclean, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Fleetwood Mac, Randy Newman, King Crimson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kiss, Van Morrison, Tommy Tutone, The Police, Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Peter Paul and Mary, Moody Blues...to name a few. Yeah, good music is everywhere but the blues are where it's at.

Movies we watch more than once.

Lord of the Rings Trilogy, GhostDog, Ullee's Gold, Indian Summer, Sideways, Once, Map of the Human Heart, Shower, The Cruise and of course The Big Lebowski

Books I would read again, some I have.

Hagakure, The Hobbit, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King, The Harry Potter series, anything by Louis L'Amour, James P. Hogan, Ursula LeGuin, Anne McCaffrey, Patricia A. McKillip...you get the idea. Have read stuff like Tom Clancy or Ayn Rand but to be honest did not enjoy the read(Yeah, yeah, it's almost blasphemy). For the most part quit reading books about 15 years ago. Didn't just read a book, it was more like 5 or 6 or 7 books at a time, would devour them. It was nothing to read a book in a afternoon and start two more. Any book would fill my soul. Sure there were bad books but these never came home with me, you can tell an enormous amount about a book from the first two pages. Finding an author who really spoke to me, meant buying everything he/she ever did. Read one book to a certain point and then pick up another. Might not come back to the first book for a day or a week or a month or more but the whole time it would be a part of me waiting to be finished. And would do this with each and every book. Could pick a book up after it sat for months and continue like only 5 minutes had passed. When finished with one there was a slew of others waiting to be started, all one had to do was choose. Drove my kids nuts and made my wife laugh. Sometimes it was me trying to figure out where the author was going to take the story before continuing and other times couldn't grasp everything and sometimes did not want to tale to end. It was/is like a sickness. Could start again in a minute and part of me wants to and another part of me refuses...perhaps someday.

Who I listen(ed) to.

My Wife, our children, Mom and Dad, Grandparents, Gandalf, Chef LeMonte, DI Sgt Verduggo and about half of my teachers, the other half...not so much.

A synopsis...

Love to cook with my wife and then enjoy it with others. A person truly is what they eat, how could it be anything else. When able to spend an entire day cooking with Jen it is always a great day. It is sad when something grand like a Satsuma goes out of season for another year. Our favorite place on Earth is Maui, it is paradise. Endeavour to retire there someday, one must have a goal in life even if it seems unattainable. Humor is big, almost everything can or will be a joke with me. Life is just too short not to find laughter and fun. Share a joke with me, nothing better than hearing or telling a good joke. Only get one dance on this planet circling Sol, and am trying to make the most of it. Have more friends than I deserve, but care for everyone of them and never take em for granted. Wish to be a better guitar player but who doesn't. Everyday try to get a little bit better, whether it's playing the guit or anything else. Love animals, all animals. We can learn alot from them.

    Hey Fingerpicker!

I finally uploaded some pics of that custom 12 to my gallery. I know you were quite patient and finally surrendered to my stupor. Well...I finally got the pics that were taken at the factory by a pro and you can now enjoy them...I certainly wish there were more. I tried to go to the desert to get some of my own, but that went bust and if I went out there now the guit would melt or spontaneously combust.

Anyway, I hope you get some pleasure in some small way from looking at this piece of art...it really is!

Thank you for the information. I'm not sure if this is what you would call the normal email, but here I am.

As far as food, I eat to live, though my wife is an excellent cook and sometimes I think she lives to eat. As far as music, I like almost all music, as long as it's good. I am not a great musician, but I appreciate talent when I hear it. I play mostly blues and I sing mostly original stuff in an eclectic array of styles. I tend toward rhythm guitar and always leave room for lead instruments.

I've spent a good deal of time in Mexico and I find that I like local music--family affairs and small community events. I'm not a great performer, but I have done several all-Nevada tours, playing rural bars, taverns and saloons. Right now I'm working on the last of a trilogy of CDs, covering 40 years of song writing. If you'd like a CD or two, sent me an address.

Anyway, I've enjoyed your contributions to the Breedlove forum, you've helped create a community of some pretty nice folks.

Hope this finds you well and in good spirits.

    Evan

I'm going to be in Maui in august (first visit). I've not seen or heard anything about music on Maui--do they do music on Maui and where will I find it? Evan

There are number of places that offer live music. It is really hit or miss as Maui is such a smalll island and caters to people from the U.S., Far East, Europe, Autrailia...just to name a few. It also depends which part of the island you will be staying. If you get to the town of Paia there is a place called Charlie's Cafe. Willie Nelson is one of the owners and there is live music on weekends for sure, sometimes even Willie. Kihei has a couple of places with live music also. Pick up local rags and tune your TV to channel 7 or 8(I forget which) it is a 24 hour all Maui channel on food, shows etc. What is your taste in music and food? Reply via the normal email as this comment section is ssllooww!!

    Hey FP,

    Being a White Sox fan, (looks like its going to be a long year) and enjoying a good laugh as you do, I just wanted to ask;
What are the chances of the White Sox winning the World Series? 20 to 1! Ha! We sure took a beating from you guys last night!

Anyway. I like the pics, and the attitude.

Thanks tele, heard about the game, 20 to 1 or something like that? The White Sox are having a rough time now, but the Mighty Twins seem to be getting off to a slow start themselves. <grin>

We did have the time of our lives in Maui and are already thinking about and planning the next visit there. Someday perhaps we will be lucky enough to call it home. Keeping fingers crossed and knocking on wood.
